Storm and Splendour: Sacred works by Haydn and Mozart
Experience the dramatic intensity and radiant beauty of two masterpieces of sacred music. Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore (K.339) shimmers with elegance and devotion, while Haydn’s Missa in angustiis—known as the “Nelson Mass”—thunders with urgency and triumph. Together, these works capture the tension between human vulnerability and divine grandeur, offering a journey through stormy emotion and transcendent splendour.

Mozart – Vesperae solennes de confessore, K.339
Haydn – Mass in D Minor (‘Nelson’)
C.P.E. Bach – Sinfonia in B minor, Wq. 182 No. 5
Date: Sunday 19th April, 3:00pm
Venue: The Old Museum, Bowen Hills
Tickets: Queensland Choir

Into the Light
This program invites us to walk Into the Light — not as a simple movement from darkness into brightness, but as a journey through the many forms that light and shadow can take. Darkness is not only despair; it can be silence, rest, waiting, or uncertainty. Light, in turn, is not only brilliance, but also peace, trust, courage, and hope. Together, these works explore how the two coexist, shape one another, and ultimately guide us forward.
Program:
Elaine Hagenberg – Songs from Silence
Caitlin Foster (arr.) – Creator Alme Siderum
Handel – Chandos Anthem No. 11
Dan Forrest – Lux
Date: Saturday 23rd May, 6:30pm
Venue: St John’s Cathedral, 373 Ann Street, Brisbane
Tickets: ChoirWorks
