About us
Founded in 1995, the Sinfonia of St Andrew’s, associated with St Andrew’s Uniting Church in Brisbane, is a vibrant ensemble that brings together a rich tradition of classical music performance. Over the decades, our ensemble has become an intrinsic part of Brisbane’s cultural landscape.
Our ensemble consists of professional musicians from across Brisbane, coming together to create a vibrant and dynamic sound. This diverse group allows us to perform a wide range of music, from the elegance of the Baroque era to the depth of the Romantic period, keeping the spirit of classical music alive and engaging.
Our performances reach beyond the confines of Brisbane, extending into regional hubs and thriving communities around the city. Through partnerships with various local groups such as the Queensland Choir, Oriana Choir, Brisbane Chorale, the Queensland University Music Society, and the Ipswich Cambrian Choir, we have been able to broaden our reach, sharing the joy of classical music with an ever-expanding audience.
We are committed to nurturing talent. We have always encouraged young musicians to perform alongside seasoned professionals, providing them with a unique platform for growth. In the past, this approach has seen us host performances from prodigious talents such as violinist Ray Chen and pianist Alex Raineri, reinforcing our dedication to fostering the next generation of classical musicians.
